Today students experimented with motion by comparing how far race cars travel on tracks of different heights. Which car do you think went the furthest?
This week the first graders worked with our garden coordinator, Mr. Burn, to plant herbs in the school garden. In the weeks to come we will be making observations about the garden's progress.
The first graders did such a great job at our field trip to the planetarium! They learned about the Earth's rotation, stars, and galaxies. Thank you so much to all of the chaperones as well!
The Richmond Ballet came to perform a rendition of Don Quixote. Students loved dancing along to the music. They even got a chance to ask the dancers questions!

In honor of February being Black History month, the students created a patchwork quilt. Each piece of the quilt describes an influential African American.
We have been learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Over the past week, we have read books about the presidents and learned about their accomplishments. In honor of President's Day, our class wrote plays featuring George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The kids loved making puppets and putting on a show for their classmates!
We celebrated Valentine's Day by making heart arts-and-crafts. Everyone then exchanged compliment cards and enjoyed some Valentine's Day treats. Take a look at some of our creations! |
